The RKZbios is a small, independent cinema in Groningen showing great films since 1980. Our modest, unpretentious movie theatre is run by volunteers who all live in the Oude RKZ: a former hospital squat which hosts many different cultural activities, one of which is playing movies!

The RKZbios is known for its cosy atmosphere, fair prices, luxury seating, interesting (local) beers and excellent projection. We play mainly arthouse and independent films (but sometimes also classics and interesting Hollywood movies) for an audience of students, locals and cinephiles in one of the prettiest auditoriums in Groningen.

Every film is shown in its original language with Dutch subtitles (unless stated otherwise). Standard tickets are 7 euros, but students only pay 5 euros, or if you plan to come more often, you could buy a ten-visit pass for 50 euros! Unfortunately it's not possible to reserve a ticket, so come early to make sure you have a seat. The box office opens 30 minutes before show time. Don't forget to take cash - we don’t have card payment facilities.

The RKZbios is located in Helpman, a suburb in the south of Groningen, just a short ten minute bike ride from the city centre.
